The Migliore Award was established in 2003 to recognize individuals who have made extraordinary contributions to the natural stone industry and the Marble Institute of America. The award is named for MIA’s long-time Technical Director, the late Vincent R. Migliore, who was its first recipient and Paul’s friend.

Award winners are chosen by the MIA Board of Directors. The selection criteria includes: successful and notable accomplishments within the framework of a professional career in natural stone; the intensity of involvement and dedication to the activities and objectives of MIA; the contributions made to furthering professionals within the natural stone industry; and a national recognition, competence, or contributions to other associations and organizations serving the natural stone industry.

Fifty years ago Paul Vigna entered the stone business as a helper. Throughout these last 50 years he has made stone his life and his love.

In 1993 Paul joined Artisan Tile & Marble Co. of New Jersey. Since then, no individual has touched so many lives in this field as Paul. He continues to be a vibrant, active artisan in the stone world. He is responsible for all aspects of the Artisan stone division, including sales expansion, project management, stone consultations, and technical support to general contractors and field personnel. He also acts as Artisan’s stone and business mentor.

Over the years, Paul has served as the Secretary, Treasurer, Vice President and President of the Marble Institute of America. He was also the Director of the Marble Institute of America - Zone 2: District of Columbia, Delaware, Maryland, New Jersey, Pennsylvania, Virginia, and West Virginia until 2004 and a Union Craft Committee Member.

Always on the cutting edge of technology, he has worked in harmony with architects, general contractors, and suppliers. His knowledge of stone is boundless. Always learning and sharing, Paul has written many articles for various stone publications and has been interviewed several times for his stone industry forecasts.

Paul is a true leader in this industry. He has mentored countless firms and is directly responsible for many of the over 35 New Jersey Golden Trowel Awards received by Artisan Tile & Marble. One of the most recent being the exterior stone fountain at the Gagnon Cardiovascular Institute at Morristown Hospital, which was recognized with a Golden Trowel Award for Best in Category - Tile/Marble/Terrazzo by the International Masonry Institute.

For several years, Paul has offered his services as a consultant to the industry and general public sharing his expertise and recommendations for stone related projects.

Paul deserves this honor of a lifetime achievement award because of his dedication to anyone interested in stone. His commitment to details and his ability to share his knowledge with specifiers, fabricators, architects and suppliers has allowed him to touch every aspect of his industry.

Happily married to his wife, Judy, for over 51 years, they are the proud parents of three children; Chris, Mike and Debbie. They enjoy spending as much time as possible with their grandchildren; Jessica, Alexander, Marisa, Matthew, Nicole and Rebecca.

In winning this award, Paul joins John Sekora in making Artisan Tile & Marble Co. of New Jersey, Inc. the only firm in the United States that has not only had past-presidents of two national organizations but that has also had both individuals honored with their highest award.

Heartfelt congratulations and thanks are extended to our Paul Vigna.

There is only one boss...

The customer.

And he can fire everyone in the company,
from the chairman on down,
simply by
spending his money somewhere else.
